The difference between a hobby painter, and an artist, is knowledge and practice. I'll teach you everything I know about painting, and I'll give you practice exercises, to help you to become a more confident painter.
I'm Christy Hayes, a professional artist and instructor, living in Marietta, Georgia, with my husband, two children, and two dogs.
In college, I earned a B.A. in English and Art, and a B.S. in Education. After completing school, I taught 6th grade, until my children were born. I was fortunate to be able to stay home with them, until they started school, and since then, I have used my days make Art my business.
In the last decade, my art has been in a number of juried shows, one magazine, and a handful of galleries. A little over five years ago, I began teaching painting classes, in an art center near my home, and now I teach regular morning classes at two art centers, in Georgia.
My objective is to continue to evolve as an artist, and to help you to achieve that same goal.
When I'm painting indoors, I paint in my home studio, and I usually use Acrylic paint. Acrylic paint dries fast, which means that I can layer it, quickly.
When I'm outdoors, Plein Air painting, I like to use Gouache paint, because it travels well, but I can layer it, just like I do with Acrylic paint.
